Music Background

Music is a big part of my life. Has been since about the time I was 15 years old or so.

My older brothers got involved with music before I did. My oldest brother became a songwriter, and my other brother a DJ. My uncle was a drummer and played in bands around Boston. He helped me become a musician, getting me my first electric bass guitar so I could learn how to play.

My friend Slade came up with the idea to start a band when I was 15. I was a junior in college. I thought the idea was a brilliant one so I got to work right away learning as much as I could about music. It was very confusing at first but I had a lot of friends at school that were musicians so I asked them for their help in teaching me the ropes. I consulted my friend “Trauma” one day. I told him I wanted to start a rock band and asked him what instrument I should play. I said I wanted to learn something that wouldn’t be super difficult so I could get into it right away. That’s when he told me about the bass. He told me he played bass, his dad played bass and that, of all the instruments I could learn, it was probably going to have the most gentle learning curve. So that was that. I got to work right away on getting myself a bass.

My first music teacher was Greg Scapicchio, owner of GS Music Center in Medford, MA. Back then he taught private lessons out of his garage. I’d go over there on Saturdays and he’d teach me basic music theory and application on the bass.

I went on to study music performance, theory, electric bass, music business, and music production at the University of Massachusetts Lowel, graduating in 2001 with a Bachelors of Music Performance: Sound Recording Technology. I studied electric bass with Mark Henry.

I moved to California and worked for Tommy Tallarico, the world’s most successful music and audio producer for video games.
